Toughen Up

Jacket: Forever 21 (obsessed!!) // T-shirt: J Crew // Skirt: Nordstrom, similar //
Heels: Sole Society // Sunglasses: Tory Burch // Bag: Forever 21 // Watch: Michael Kors //
Lips: Pink Neauvou (my go to lately)

When I bought this jacket, I have to admit that I felt a little out of character. I struggle with edgy pieces. I always end up loving them, but adopting new things isn't a strong suite of mine.  I think the feminine details of the jacket make it a little more "me". The quilting is very chanel-esque and gives the jacket a more expensive look. If I didn't know where it was from, I would have thought it was much more expensive.

A way I make myself comfortable in tougher, edgier pieces is to add something soft and feminine. I thought the soft pink of the skirt helped to soften the edges. I always love adding new pieces to my wardrobe, but finding ways to make them my own is super important!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I spent mine being super sick and cooped up at home. Talk about a major bummer. I have so much to get done in the next couple months for the wedding so weekends are crazy important! Here's to hoping I feel much better tomorrow and can get back on track!

Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Faux Fur It

Vest: random ebay find, similar // Top: Forever 21, similar // Denim: Old Navy // Flats: Old Navy //
Necklace: Benevolent Jewels (use code LFCODE20 for 20% off) // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff //
Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet: J Crew // Lip: Lady Danger

Just one last time... I had to go with the faux fur. I am so happy to see spring make an appearance, but so sad to let my furry pieces go into the shadows of my closet. I feel like I spent a large majority of the winter looking for the perfect faux fur vest... it's hard to find something that isn't uber expensive or very cheaply made. While this guy I'm wearing isn't the most fancy thing... it feels nice. has pockets, and doesn't look like I'm wearing a gorilla. (you know how some black faux fur can translate...) Sometimes ebay can surprise you!

Another reason I'm longing for sunshine... I am a ghost! In piloxing last night I literally glowed under the flourescent lights. How embarrassing! I keep trying faux tanners, but nothing is doing the trick right now! I will let you know what I find! That's my weekend mission.

Happy Humpday! Thanks so much for reading and have a wonderful day!!!

Spring Fling

Top: J Crew // Skirt: Forever 21, similar // Heels: Michael Kors (most favorite shoes ever!) // Bag: H&M (in store only) //
Necklace: Benevolent Jewels ((use code LFCODE20 for 20% off)) // Watch: Michael Kors // Sunglasses: Tory Burch // Lips: Pink Neauvou

So, I have a few obsessions going on here... 1) Bag: OMG! I cannot believe I picked this up for $30 at H&M when we were in Nashville. So many bargain priced retailers are nailing it in the bag category right now! Score! 2) These heels: note... they are old, but are classics that just keep on coming back! Love my Carlas! You can't beat something that stays in production. I always love finding something I purchased years ago back on shelves again and again. That let's you know you invested in the right piece.

I'm also loving florals right now, but who isn't? Spring fever is in full swing... and while it was 70 when we took these photos... it is now 30! Just a few more weeks! Thank goodness!

I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for reading!

Jaded

Jacket: Forever 21, similar (ON SALE!) // Top: Forever 21 // Denim: Old Navy //
Heels: Sole Society // Watch: Michael Kors// Bracelet: Blush Bazaar // Bag, Rebecca Minkoff //
Earrings: Benevolent Jewels (use LFCODE20 for 20% off) // Necklaces: J Crew, Benevolent Jewels //
Sunnies: Anthropologie// Lip: Pink Neauvou  // Wearing the Luxy Hair 120g set in Dirty Blonde

I am so infected with spring fever right now it's almost ridiculous. With the weather being in the 60's right now,  it's easy to let it happen. Green is the epitome of spring and this is the perfect shade of green! Pictures don't do it justice. It really is fab. It's actually an oldie from last spring, but I've found an amazing dupe and an amazing price. (linked above)

When featuring a bright color I try to keep everything else super neutral. A basic striped top with denim  seemed fitting. Especially with us running around Nashville on Sunday. I was so excited to walk Belmont's campus with Luke and listen to how excited he was sharing old stories. I've visited Nashville before, but never toured the campus. I can't even explain how pretty it is in words. I was astounded! All the musicians playing guitar on every corner didn't hurt either! (hah!)

In other news, this has been one rough week! I'm not going to go into details, but I would appreciate thoughts and prayers!

Thank you so much for reading!!!

All For Love

Skirt: Choies // Top: Forever 21, similar // Necklace: Benevolent Jewels
(use code LFCODE20 for 20% off) //  Monogram Clutch: Benevolent Jewels//
Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelets: J Crew, Blush Bazaar // Heels: Zara, option //
Nails: Essie "Lovie Dovie" // Lip:  MAC, Pink Nouveau

Happy Valentines Day loves! Today is seriously one of my favorite holidays! I am obsessed with pink and red, heart prints, lipstick, flowers... the whole shebang... So this day really encompasses all of my favorite things. This would be a great look if you are planning to go all out for the holiday. For a fancy dinner, this is your ticket to perfection.

I fell in love with the fullness of this skirt from the minute I laid eyes on it! It looks so incredibly regal. I bet you would never guess it is $25!!! Awesome buy in my book. I also love that I have so many options to pair it with. The fullness does make it a little too fancy for everyday general wear... it might get in the way. For a fun piece to have as back up for special events though... this gem is just right.

I went on the hunt for something heart print and realized I actually had this in my closet already! I've only worn it a handful of times and didn't want to spend money on something I didn't really need right now, so I made it work. I love the option I have linked above though!

I threw on some glitter heeled sandals to add a little sparkle. I love mixing gold and silver and thought these really pulled the look together. Lastly I can't go without mentioning my new clutch from Benevolent Jewels. I am obsessed with monograms in the first place, but with mine changing soon I keep snatching things up as I find them to bulk up my collection. (Plus, I'm just so excited about the wedding I can't contain myself!)

I hope you have a wonderful day filled with love and conversation hearts!

Thank you for reading!!!

Two Tone...

Top: Max Studio, loving this one
Denim: 7FAM
Heels: ShoeDazzle featured in People Style Watch Mag March 2014
Watch: Michael Kors
Bracelets: J Crew, Blush Bazaar
Necklace: BaubleBar
Lippie: Saint Germain
Nails: Formula X for Sephora "intensity"

Sometimes I have a hard time nailing down what my style is just by thinking of one look.  I love love love bright colors!!!! Yet, sometimes I just want to go super neutral with hardly a stitch of color.... that's just who I am. I like a lot of different things. I don't have a specific style that would define me... I don't think many do.

I just love the look of a simple white blouse with dark denim and pumps... there really is nothing more simple and chic. I found these heels from Shoedazzle a couple weeks ago and thought they were just so fun! The light pink and winter white color block is just the start... there is also a layer of gold peaking through the perforation of the leather: obsessed! They were actually featured in the newest issue of People Style Watch... so they must be pretty perfect, right?

I pulled things together with my favorite new polish from the Formula X collection for Sephora and a light lip.

Things are supposed to get a little crazy around here weather wise tomorrow. Schools are closing and we are predicted to get 6 inches of snow! Just pray it doesn't happen people! I just don't have time for that!!!

Thanks for reading pretties! Sorry for the delay in posting! I managed to squeeze this one in between my work commute and making it to piloxing on time... I'm kind of obsessed with piloxing lately BTW!

ps- It had just rained when we took these photos. Please excuse me frizzy hair!

Bubblegum Pink

Sweater: Banana Republic similar here and here // Denim: Old Navy // Flats: Old Navy //
Necklace: Benevolent Jewels (use code LFCODE20 for 20% off) // Earrings: Kate Spade //
Clutch: K Slademade (sale!!!) // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelets: J Crew, Blush Bazaar //
Lippie: High Tea // Nails: Lovie Dovie by Essie

Have you ever bought something you didn't really need, but thought it would be a great piece at some point down the road? That's the case with this sweater. I found this sweater the week after Christmas. Of course everything had gone to super clearance to make room for new items and I scooped this up for under $20!!! I haven't thought to wear it until now, and when I saw the great color combo with my bright red Old Navy flats... I knew this would make for a perfect Valentine's day look.

I have been on a major hunt the past couple days to find a dupe for you guys... I got several questions on Instagram about the sweater and I'm so glad you loved it as much as I do. I couldn't find anything that would work as an exact dupe as this one is sold out, but J Crew had a couple of great options and Banana Republic had a different color and pattern option in the same style. (See below for where to find the pieces)

I just love pink and red together.... I'm sure I'll take it overboard this week with it being Valentines Day, but I can't help myself. Any reason to wear my two favorite colors is a good thing in my book!

My other obsessions of the moment are: my Benevolent Jewels necklace (can't get enough of their pieces!!!), my new Old Navy jeans, and my K Slademade clutch. All three are not only perfect for Valentines Day, but  also for everyday wear! I could throw all three pieces on with a white t-shirt and look pulled together and chic... Obsessed really doesn't explain my love and I'm sure you can see why!

Have a great day pretties! I hope you are as excited for Valentines Day as I am!

Thank you so much for reading!

Working Girl With Style

With Valentine's day just a couple weeks away, I felt it fitting to get in the swing of things and use Cupid for some outfit inspiration. I love pink and red together! Something about the pair together helps to add cheer to any outfit. I've had this trench since college... I don't wear it often, but I definitely should! A good jacket for rainy days is a must have with spring approaching and with the haphazard weather we have been experiencing keeping one handy is in your best interest(especially in TN!).

This top from Target has definitely gotten it's wear! I wear this to work all the time, but wanted to pair it with something a little more flirty for a change. This would be the perfect outfit for a dinner date for Valentine's day. If it's too chilly to wear a skirt, swap out for some dark or black denim.

I'm excited to be entering into another month. Not only is Valentine's day one of my favorite holidays, but I'm also another month closer to being Mrs. D! I hate to wish time away, but I can't help myself.

Did you partake in the Super Bowl festivities? I'm a bit of an old lady and couldn't stay up to watch the finish. I love sports... but I never said I was a die hard fan ya'll!

Happy Monday and thank you for reading!

Spring Fever

Spring fever is in full effect here... We are experiencing another cold spell and I can't think of anything better than warm sunshine and the beach. I keep throwing brights into the mix to try and force spring in... but nothing yet... This week I'm really trying to focus on getting good use of things in my closet that have yet to be worn... or have been a little neglected lately... My little J Crew bow flats have spent a lot of time in the closet since early fall. Nude bow flats are kind of a necessity so I'm not sure how I went so long without wearing them.

This vest has been such a major piece in my wardrobe lately... I have worn it to work, on the weekends to be super casual, and even over workout clothes going to and from the gym for extra warmth. I snatched it up when it was around $40 and have definitely gotten my money's worth...

A pink blouse is also a must have. Pink makes me happy just like every other lady out there... but it also adds an element of cheer to otherwise understated outfits. I always go for a slightly darker pink lip to compliment. For this look I wore girl about town topped off with matching gloss. {The only issue was the major wind that we have been having... I ended up with lip gloss in hair: no bueno!}

Top: J Crew, similar here

Bag: Michael Kors
Flats: J Crew Factory
Watch: Michael Kors
Belt: Target
Bracelet: J Crew
Sunnies: Anthropologie
Lippie: Girl About Town lipstick + gloss

My accessories are my favorite part of this look. After spending quite some time contemplating... I decided to splurge on the Michael Kors Selma handbag. For several years the only bag I would own was a Michael Kors bag. I was actually a little obsessive. {I tend to do that sometimes... #sorrynotsorry} My only reason to not have purchased this sooner was the fact that it is floating around everywhere... literally. I finally decided that if I liked the bag I should just get it. I went with navy because 1. I have never owned a navy bag and 2. because I love a navy and black combo... but also love the nautical feel it can give a look with a cheerful color palette. Overall I have been very happy so far. The quality and functionality really cannot be beat for the price tag!

Lastly, my Benevolent Jewels necklace. Obsessed! There are so many ways that I can wear this piece because of the color combo! You can really see major detail in some of my recent Instagram photos, but pink, blue, and olive green really make this piece extremely unique. You can get 20% off at Benevolent Jewels by using code: LFCODE20.

I hope life is happy where you are and that you have a wonderful day!

Thanks for reading and talk to you soon!

Bundled up in color...

Remember me saying it was cold? I was just kidding... now it's cold... We are seriously at 0! When is this crazy freeze going to end? The only ways I am getting through can be summed up in one word: layers. I work inside most of the day so wearing heavy layers on top and lighter underneath is a must. I start with something like a light blouse, move to a sweater, and then end with a heavy coat. I'm not much of a glove wearer... I usually wear them the first five minutes I'm in the car on my commute and toss them for the day. I just feel super restricted... and mostly can't handle not being able to use my phone. (I can't get the touch screen compatible gloves to work).

This coat is one of my most prized possessions. I love the color (read about my yellow obession here) and that the sleeve isn't full length. I realize three quarter sleeves are really meant for fall, but I like to be able to move. I also love this coat for the reason that layers don't feel super bulky underneath. I love the sweater ( I wore it to cover up during my best friends wedding... it was a chilly night and we weren't very covered in our strapless bridesmaids dresses). The hi-lo effect is hard to see here, but it really is the best part. Polka dots don't hurt either though...

I thought I needed some extra color so I threw on a sleeveless blouse in the popular color of the year (Radiant Orchid). At first I thought the colors might be a little overwhelming together, but I actually love the combo...

Other thoughts: Hunter Boots aren't just for rain. Outside of UGG boots... they are kind of the only thing that keep me warm. I throw on boot socks and I'm set.

Have a great day and stay warm!
