Snow Day

Snow days are so magical... even when you're a grown up. I love how peaceful everything looks when covered in a blanket of white... nothing can top it. {other than the beach} I was grateful to be able to leave work early after the storm hit... I drive almost 40 minutes to work without snow... so with creates over an hour and a half commute for me. {ick} I was so happy to make it home... and when I did this is what I saw... GORG!

Pixie pants and layering are winter staples of mine... I also love a red, black, and white combo! The three make such a sharp statement! With Valentine's day quickly approaching hearts make everything just a little more festive...

Spring Fever

Spring fever is in full effect here... We are experiencing another cold spell and I can't think of anything better than warm sunshine and the beach. I keep throwing brights into the mix to try and force spring in... but nothing yet... This week I'm really trying to focus on getting good use of things in my closet that have yet to be worn... or have been a little neglected lately... My little J Crew bow flats have spent a lot of time in the closet since early fall. Nude bow flats are kind of a necessity so I'm not sure how I went so long without wearing them.

 This vest has been such a major piece in my wardrobe lately... I have worn it to work, on the weekends to be super casual, and even over workout clothes going to and from the gym for extra warmth. I snatched it up when it was around $40 and have definitely gotten my money's worth...

A pink blouse is also a must have. Pink makes me happy just like every other lady out there... but it also adds an element of cheer to otherwise understated outfits. I always go for a slightly darker pink lip to compliment. For this look I wore girl about town topped off with matching gloss. {The only issue was the major wind that we have been having... I ended up with lip gloss in hair: no bueno!}

My accessories are my favorite part of this look. After spending quite some time contemplating... I decided to splurge on the Michael Kors Selma handbag. For several years the only bag I would own was a Michael Kors bag. I was actually a little obsessive. {I tend to do that sometimes... #sorrynotsorry} My only reason to not have purchased this sooner was the fact that it is floating around everywhere... literally. I finally decided that if I liked the bag I should just get it. I went with navy because 1. I have never owned a navy bag and 2. because I love a navy and black combo... but also love the nautical feel it can give a look with a cheerful color palette. Overall I have been very happy so far. The quality and functionality really cannot be beat for the price tag!

Lastly, my Benevolent Jewels necklace. Obsessed! There are so many ways that I can wear this piece because of the color combo! You can really see major detail in some of my recent Instagram photos, but pink, blue, and olive green really make this piece extremely unique. You can get 20% off at Benevolent Jewels by using code: LFCODE20.

I hope life is happy where you are and that you have a wonderful day!

Going Green

This skirt has stolen my heart. When I received a recent mailer from H&M I saw it featured and just had to have it. A black midi skirt with pockets of good quality under a $50 price point is nearly impossible... but this one beats the odds. The structure is impeccable and it really moves with you. I can't wait to keep styling it throughout spring and summer. The possibilities are endless.

I keep throwing colors on to trick my mind into thinking it isn't freezing outside. Kelly green is the epitome of spring... it's coming soon... that's what I keep telling myself...

The wind was having a fit while we took pictures... and my hair didn't quite make it through...

Bundled up in color...

Remember me saying it was cold? I was just kidding... now it's cold... We are seriously at 0! When is this crazy freeze going to end? The only ways I am getting through can be summed up in one word: layers. I work inside most of the day so wearing heavy layers on top and lighter underneath is a must. I start with something like a light blouse, move to a sweater, and then end with a heavy coat. I'm not much of a glove wearer... I usually wear them the first five minutes I'm in the car on my commute and toss them for the day. I just feel super restricted... and mostly can't handle not being able to use my phone. (I can't get the touch screen compatible gloves to work).

This coat is one of my most prized possessions. I love the color (read about my yellow obession here) and that the sleeve isn't full length. I realize three quarter sleeves are really meant for fall, but I like to be able to move. I also love this coat for the reason that layers don't feel super bulky underneath. I love the sweater ( I wore it to cover up during my best friends wedding... it was a chilly night and we weren't very covered in our strapless bridesmaids dresses). The hi-lo effect is hard to see here, but it really is the best part. Polka dots don't hurt either though...

I thought I needed some extra color so I threw on a sleeveless blouse in the popular color of the year (Radiant Orchid). At first I thought the colors might be a little overwhelming together, but I actually love the combo...

Other thoughts: Hunter Boots aren't just for rain. Outside of UGG boots... they are kind of the only thing that keep me warm. I throw on boot socks and I'm set.

Have a great day and stay warm!

Tres Chic

Sweater: Forever 21
Button Down: Target
Denim: Gap
Heels: ZooShoo
Bracelets: Jcrew, Old Navy
Watch: Michael Kors
Necklace: J Crew
Earrings: Kate Spade
Lip: Candy Yum Yum with Girl about Town gloss

This sweater has been on my must-have list for quite some time!!! I finally snatched it up last weekend when our store got a re-stock.  A nice, cozy sweater has kind of been a necessity these days as bitter cold weather can't seem to leave. We haven't made it above freezing yet! Adding bright colors is helping to keep my spirits high though. I call these my barbie shoes. No matter what kind of day I'm having they always make it better!

I've been struggling in a major way to not keep buying sweaters! It's time to start hunting for spring and summer pieces and I just keep on adding to the pile of cable knits! Is anyone else having this issue? I can't wrap my mind around even buying honeymoon clothes. I guess I'm just to concerned with the possibility of frost bite...

I hope things are warm where you are and that life is happy!

Have a great day and I will talk to you soon!

ps- I promised when I first started this blog that I would document our planning process with the wedding.... a few of those posts are soon to come your way! So stay tuned!

Warby Parker

Today I am teaming up with Warby Parker to talk about the 5 day at home try on. First off, Warby Parker is an amazing company with a vision that is truly making a difference in the world. For each pair of frames sold, a pair is given to someone in need. There are so many in the world that are truly in need of assistance, but we are talking vision here people. Imagine the difference good vision could make in someone's life; consider yourself humbled!

Moving on to products... the 5 day at home try on is a tool for customers to use to easier choose frames. With so many different face shapes, knowing which frames will work best is difficult to determine online. With the 5 day try on, you choose 5 frames.. and take 5 days from the date delivered to decided which ones fit the bill.

Get EXCITED!!!!

How it works:

{ Make sure you share your frames via Facebook and Twitter, the Warby Parker help team will assist you in your decision!!!}

The frames I chose

Are you ready???

Take 1: The Ripley

Take 3: The Preston

Take 4: {Please note my excitement!} The Mallory

I have never been so happy having four eyes... in my life... and I started wearing glasses in Kindergarten...

As if you couldn't already tell... We have a winner! Best frames I have ever laid my eyes on folks!!!

Take 5: The Everette
{ I threw in some sunnies to show all that Warby Parker has to offer... obviously hard to compare optical to sunnies, but aren't these fab?}

There you have it: choosing frames is now a cinch with Warby Parker!!! Once you've reached day five: pack up your frames, use your pre-paid UPS label, and take to your nearest drop off location for shipment. You can then place your order and confirm your prescription for your lenses. Please pay attention to the prices... SO AFFORDABLE!!!! I wish I had waited when getting my last pair of frames. The quality of these is impeccable and really cannot be matched for the price.

What are you waiting for? Go order your frames and support the great work that Warby Parker is doing! It's really a no brainer!

Thanks for reading and talk to you soon!

Canary

Canary yellow is absolute perfection. Yellow can often turn into a disaster where outfits are concerned: reason being,  choosing the wrong shade. I have yet to find someone this shade of yellow doesn't favor. If you are brunette with olive complexion or blonde and fair like me, this shade will work for you! Throw on a bright pink or red lip and some skinnies and you are ready to go!

I found this fab top from H&M about a month ago. I love the fabric and ruffle front. One thing to always be mindful of with tops is volume balance. I paired my leather blazer with this to bring down the fullness and bring everything to the center with a tapered front. I'm all about adding interest, but you never want to let it takeover. Always find something to keep your looks grounded.

 I am so grateful for the ability to shop H&M online now. I found several items that are amazing quality, but each came in around $20. You really can't beat that. Especially when one of my finds is a great dupe for several designer bags I have been eyeing lately. This bag is quite large, but is perfect for those days when I have a lot to cart around with me. Another great part is the large mouth opening. There is nothing worse than a large bag with a small mouth: all that size and no way to easily access  your items... no thanks!

Another change, I wore my Luxies straight for once. I was scared my hair wouldn't blend well and would look piecey, but I was pleasantly surprised. Just a little leave in to keep the ends smooth and my flat iron and we were in business.

Luke and I both have the day off today! Thank the Lord for holidays. We are spending the day working on wedding plans! Wish us luck! We are in crunch time and have a million things to accomplish on our to do list before May 31st!!
